When you live in Arizona there are so many amazing things to do all the time. Like exploring a museum or going thrifting. Though one of our favorite things to do as the weather is finally cooling off a bit is to head out to one of our favorite state parks. There are plenty of great options that you don’t want to miss out on.

1) Red Rock State Park
Red Rock State Park is the perfect weekend getaway. Start your trip by stopping in at The Miller Visitor Center where you can learn about all the amazing things you can see in the park. Maybe join the daily guided nature hikes or explore on your own. With a 5-mile trail system including interconnecting loops, you and your family will have a great day of adventure.
2) Catalina State Park
Sat in the base of the majestic Santa Catalina Mountains, Catalina State Park is packed full of stunning beauty. This 5,500 acres of foothills, canyons, and streams is a perfect place camping, picnicking and bird watching. You’ll find miles of trails great for hiking, biking, and equestrian. All while being only minutes away from the Tucson metropolitan area.

3) Tonto Natural Bridge State Park
When you visit Tonto Natural Bridge State Park, start with visiting the Historic Lodge. There you can see artifacts on the history of Tonto Natural Bridge, along with so much more information. Then head to one of the trails. You’ll want to be prepared as trails are shorter, but steep and strenuous. It will give you some absolutely gorgeous views.
4) Dead Horse Ranch State Park
If you’re looking for a fun weekend on the water, then you’ll want to check out Dead Horse Ranch State Park. Plan to spend the whole weekend by reserving a campsite or get a cabin if you aren’t up for sleeping in a tent. And when you need a break from all the amazing water activities, go for a hike out to Coconino National Forest.
5) Lost Dutchman State Park
Named after the fabled lost gold mine, Lost Dutchman State Park is located in the Sonoran Desert. Only 40 miles east of Phoenix, it makes this park a perfect getaway. With stunning views and several trails leading form the park into the Superstition Mountain Wilderness to make this a stunningly beautiful experience. And if you plan right, you might even get to see some absolutely gorgeous wildflowers.
